A friend of mine was cleaning out the garage of an elderly woman and was instructed to toss the lot. Fortunately, he brought me the box of vintage beads he found, three of which are used in this necklace. These green rectangular glass cabochons, encased in metal, with tiny glass rounds, are stamped on the back. The art nouveau design appears to be from the early to middle 20th century.

These vintage beads are in combination with pale green freshwater pearls and amethyst rounds. The synthesis of the two colors, green and purple, is suggested to signify "royalty." The "bells" on the pendants are pewter squares and the decorative clasps are also pewter. This is a necklace an old-fashioned gal, with royalist leanings, would feel at home wearing!
